Who we are
Machinist Advisor is a product of PROTODEVELOPER LLC, a California company. This page covers the mobile app and the website. Effective October 19, 2026. Last updated October 19, 2026.
Camera and photos
We use the camera and photo library so you can photograph or pick G-code to look up G/M definitions, and so Measure can open print photos or PDFs for on-device OCR. Images stay on your device for that work; we do not upload them to our servers.
What stays on your device
Prints, photos, and PDFs you open in Measure, and on-device OCR of those files, stay on your device. We do not upload print images to PROTODEVELOPER for OCR or storage.
What we store locally
Settings, measuring sheets, tool libraries, and similar data live in local storage on this device (or browser). There is no cloud account sync of shop data today.
Accounts
There is no sign-in and no cloud account. Your data stays in this app on this device.
Deletion and retention
Uninstall the app or clear site data for this origin to delete local settings, sheets, and libraries on that device. Because there is no cloud copy of shop data today, there is nothing for us to erase on our servers when you ask. Contact us if that changes and you need help.
Children
Machinist Advisor is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided data, contact support@protodeveloper.com and we will delete what we can.
California (CCPA)
If you are a California resident: we do not sell personal information. Shop libraries, sheets, and settings stay on your device today. To request to know, delete, or correct personal information we may hold (for example emails you send to support), email support@protodeveloper.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising CCPA rights.
Analytics and tracking
The app does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs today (no Sentry, Firebase Analytics, or similar). We do not sell your shop-floor data.
Network use
Web builds self-host PDF and OCR helpers under this site’s /vendor path (pdf.js worker, tesseract worker/wasm, and English tessdata when shipped). Native builds load PDF.js and tesseract-related scripts from jsDelivr inside on-device WebViews; if bundled English tessdata is unavailable, tesseract may fall back to its public tessdata CDN once, then cache it. Print images themselves are never uploaded for OCR. An internet permission is used for those helper downloads and for normal app updates where applicable.
Older Android storage
On Android 9 and older, the app may use WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (maxSdkVersion 28) only so the camera can save a capture for G-code or Measure workflows. Newer Android versions do not request that legacy permission.
